On October 28, 2024, Ananda Balika Vidyalaya proudly hosted Confianza 24, an inspiring Commerce Day event centered around the theme “Small and Medium-Scale Business.” Organized by the 2025 A/L Batch, the event provided a platform for young minds to explore the challenges and opportunities within Sri Lanka’s SME sector.
Under the leadership of President Dulansa Minsandi and Secretary S.S. Iddamalgoda, Confianza 24 brought together 250+ participants, including students, entrepreneurs, and business enthusiasts. Prof. M.D. Pushpakumari graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Pramesh Wickramasinghe attended as the Guest of Honor, sharing valuable insights on the importance of SMEs in economic growth and innovation.
Key Competitions and Activities
Confianza 24 featured several engaging and intellectually stimulating competitions, encouraging students to think critically and present innovative ideas:
- Presentation Competition – Focused on strategies for growing small businesses and overcoming financial challenges.
- Quiz Competition – Tested participants’ knowledge on entrepreneurship, business management, and economic trends.
- Oratory Competition – Allowed students to showcase their public speaking skills, discussing the future of SMEs in Sri Lanka.
After a competitive series of events, Nalanda College emerged as the Overall Championship Winner, demonstrating exceptional knowledge and presentation skills.
A Special Milestone: The Launch of “Minidadiri”
One of the biggest highlights of Confianza 24 was the launch of “Minidadiri,” a magazine dedicated to small and medium-scale businesses. The magazine serves as a valuable resource, featuring articles on entrepreneurship, case studies of successful SMEs, and expert advice for aspiring business owners.
This initiative showcased the Commerce Society’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and financial literacy, ensuring that students have access to in-depth knowledge about the SME sector.
